Papers from four generations of the McCulloh family from whom James descended: Henry McCulloh of Cullo, landowner and lawyer; Henry Eustace McCulloh, agent in England for the colony of North Carolina; George McCulloh; and W.D. McCulloh. Includes promissory notes, deeds, receipts, accounts, bonds, surveys and plats, mortgages, business agreements, court records, power of attorney, correspondence, and law license. Twenty-two of the folders contain materials relating to the McCulloh lands in North Carolina and relate directly to Henry Eustace McCulloh and to his natural son, George McCulloh, who was his agent to recover the lands in North Carolina following the Revolutionary War, the lands of Henry Eustace McCulloh being specifically confiscated by name in the confiscation act.
